Standing Building Recording (17 January 2018)

NO 39522 25742 A historic building survey was undertaken of the ruinous Wormit Farm on 17 January 2018. The farm originated in the late 18th/early 19th century, although much of this original phase of the farm was demolished to make way for the 1990s barn which now stands on the E side of the site. What remains, to the W of the barn, largely dates from the early 19th century (post-1828) and consists of a U-shaped steading range incorporating a cart shed, a former threshing barn (with some existing fixtures and fittings still in situ) and a possible later 19th-century workshop. The original late 18th/early 19th-century farmhouse still survives to the NW of the site with a brick late 19th-century conical tower on its N elevation.
