Archaeology Notes

NO13NW 26 from 14864 37160 to 15039 37175

(Location cited as NO 141 372). Viaduct, opened 1848 by the Scottish Midland Junction Rly. A five-span bridge with parallel steel trusses on the masonry piers of a wooden viaduct, rebuilt c.1890.

This viaduct formerly carried the Perth - Coupar Angus - Kinnaber Junction ('Strathmore') main line of the former Caledonian Rly over the River Tay. The line is disused but the viaduct remains standing.

The river here forms the boundary between the parishes of Cargill and Kinclaven.
