NO05NE 75 060 559.
Situated in undulating heather moorland, mainly within the field-system NO 05 NE 23, there are a number of buildings and enclosures which are most probably the remains of shieling groups.
1. NO 0595 5595 This building, which has a possible entrance on the NNE, measures 6.5m NNE-SSW by 5m over rubble walls about 1.4m in thickness and 0.5m in height; a small enclosure or pen is attached to the WNW side.
2. NO 0598 5596 This structure, which lies about 17m E of (1), has a possible entrance on its S side and measures 6.8m E-W by 4m over turf-covered wall-footings 1m in thickness and 0.1m in height.
3. NO 0599 5596 Immediately to the E of (2) there is a small building measuring 5.6m NE-SW by 4m over rubble wall-footings about 1m in thickness and 0.1m in height. The entrance is not visible and there is a small pen attached to the N side.
4. NO 0599 5593 This building measures 4.2m WNW-ESE by 3.4m over rubble wall-footings 0.6m in thickness and 0.2m in height. The entrance is not visible and there is a small pen or outshot attached to the NE side.
5. NO 0599 5594 This building, which has an outshot at its N end, measures 5m NNW-SSE by 3.2m over rubble wall-footings 1m in thickness and 0.2m in height.
6. NO 0598 5593 This building measures 6.6m NW-SE by 4m over a wall reduced to a bank 1m in thickness and 0.2m in height; the position of the entrance was not identified.
7. NO 0602 5592 Lying on the N side of a stream, this building has two compartments and measures 7.5m NNW-SSE by 4m over rubble wall-footings 1m in thickness and 0.6m in height. Attached to the E side there is an enclosure measuring 5.5m NNW-SSE by 10m internally.
8. NO 0603 5591 Immediately SE of (7) there is a rectangular building measuring 7.8m E-W by 3.8m over rubble wall-footings 1m in thickness and 0.9m in height. There are the remains of four aumbries in the N wall, and the entrance is in the S side. The building has a sunken appearance because the wall has been 'banked up' with peat and turf.
9. NO 0603 5591 Immediately SE of (8) this small hut measures 5.8m ESE-WNW by 4.4m over a wall 1m in thickness and 0.2m in height; the entrance is in the S wall.
10. NO 0605 5593 About 15m NE of (9) there is a small building, which measures 8m E-W by 4m over walls 1m in thickness and 0.4m in height; there is also a small pen attached to the E end of the N side.
11. NO 0605 5596 This small structure, which is roughly circular on plan, measures about 4.6m in diameter over a wall up to 0.8m in thickness and 0.2m in height.
12. NO 0606 5597 Roughly rectangular on plan, this hut measures 4m by 3.3m and has an entrance at the NNW end. The walls have been reduced to footings measuring about 0.8m in thickness and 0.2m in height.
13. NO 0604 5599 This structure is triangular on plan measuring 4.4m N-S by 4.4m along the N side; the walls measure about 1m in thickness and 0.2m in height, and the entrance is on the E side.
14. NO 0604 5600 This hut measures 6.7m NNE-SSW by 4.1m over walls 1m in thickness and 0.2m in height; the entrance is probably in the S side. 15. NO 0603 5599 This building, which probably has an entrance in its N end, measures 5.4m N-S by 4.4m over wall-footings 0.7m in thickness and 0.2m in height.
16. NO 0603 5598 This building measures 5m NW-SE by 3.4m over walls 0.7m in thickness and 0.1m in height; the entrance was not visible.
17. NO 0610 5600 This building measures 7.1m ENE-WSW by 3.9m over rubble walls 0.6m in thickness and 0.5m in height; the entrance is probably at the N end of the SE wall, and there is a small pen attached to the ENE end.
18. NO 0611 5602 This structure, which is roughly circular on plan, is situated on the S side of a stony bank, and measures 4.3m in overall diameter; the entrance is on the N.
