Field Visit (14 October 1987)

NO05NE 74 0625 5609.

One of these 3 buildings is briefly noted on NO 05 NE 23 Several shieling-huts are scattered around a hut-circle on a low knoll (NO 05 NE 23.3).

1. NO 0623 5608 The first is situated within the hut-circle and abuts its NW wall; it is subrectangular and measures 4.7m NE-SW by 3.6m over low stone wall-footings 0.5m in thickness and 0.1m in height.

2. NO 0625 5607 Situated about 8m SE of the hut-circle there are the footings of a building which measures 8m NE-SW by 4m over wall-footings 0.5m in thickness and 0.1m in height. The entrance is in the SE side and on the NW there is a small enclosure measuring 8m NE-SW by 5.5m overall.

3. NO 0625 5608 About 16m E of the hut-circle there are the footings of a small hut measuring 6m NW-SE by 3m overall.

4. NO 0625 5610 About 20m NNE of the hut-circle there are the footings of a two-compartment building which measures 11m WNW-ESE by 4.6m over walls 0.8m in thickness and 0.2m in height; the position of the entrance was not visible on the date of visit.
