Field Visit (13 November 1973)

NO05NE 26 0657 5662.

At the S edge of a field system (NO 05 NE 27), at NO 0657 5662, is a heather-covered cairn, 9.0m in diameter and 1.0m high, with a kerb of contiguous stones on edge visible around most of the perimeter. A central excavation about 1.2m in diameter and about 0.4m deep has probably not gone deep enough to reveal a cist.

Surveyed at 1:10,000.

Field Visit (28 August 1987)

This probable burial cairn is situated close to the SW corner of a terrace on the N side of the Pitcarmick Burn, at the edge of an area of small cairns (NO 05 NE 27). It measures 9.3m in diameter and 1m in height over a kerb of boulders; the largest of the kerbstones (1.2m long and 0.55m high) is situated on the SW arc. A disturbance to the turf-covered cairn is marked by a shallow depression (c. 1.3m in diameter and 0.1m in depth) at its centre.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 28 August 1987.
