Field Visit (25 November 1997)

NN81NE 54 86760 19085

Cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1986; CUCAP no date) reveal what may be an oval palisaded settlement situated on the end of a low flat-topped ridge. The E side of the settlement has been obscured by trees, but the palisade trench probably encloses an area measuring about 30m from N to S by perhaps a little more transversely. A gap in the line of the palisade on the W may have been an entrance, outside which there are at least five pits, arranged in two slightly diverging lines aligned roughly from ENE to WSW.
