Activities

Desk Based Assessment (8 September 2017)

Nothing is now visible of the single-storey transit shed that is depicted standing on the pier immediately NW of the entrance into Victoria Harbour (NS27NE 28) on the 2nd edition of the OS 25-inch map (Renfrewshire 1897, Sheet 002.06). Built around 1860, it was rectangular on plan, measuring 47m from NW to SE by 11m transversely, and it was served by pre-existing rail tracks that connected the shed with the East India Quay (NS27NE 32.2) to the NW and the other quays that formed Victoria Harbour. Today the site of the shed is in part occupied by a modern shed belonging to a boat hire service.
