St David's Church, George Street, 1904, J G Fairley

Outstanding, vertically proportioned church, its attenuated, slender tower rocketing into the sky capped by an ogee dome. Everything is designed to emphasise verticality; slender lancets of the entrance tower and the prettily scaled adjacent hall. Fine, open, timber-roofed interior, gallery the one side, aisle the other. Stained glass celebrating mining and engineering, 1954, W Wilson.

Taken from "West Lothian: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Stuart Eydmann, Richard Jaques and Charles McKean, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
