A barrage balloon mooring site has been identified from an RAF World War II vertical air photograph (NLA 44, 5.18, flown 27 August 1942) in the grounds of a church to the E of Dalhousie Street.
Information from RCAHMS (DE), December 2001
Field Visit (18 April 2017)
Nothing is visible of a World War Two Barrage Balloon anchoring site, which is shown on an RAF photograph (NLA 44, 5.18) taken on 27 August 1942. The area is now occupied partly by a newly built indoor sports complex and partly by what remains of a hard standing in front of St Aloysius' Roman Catholic Church. The site was one of an extensive network that protected the population and industry of central Glasgow and the Clyde from low flying enemy bombers.
Visited by HES, Survey and Recording (ATW, AKK) 18 April 2017.
