This austere mansion was built in 1797-9 as a Roman Catholic seminary, the only one in Scotland, but closed in 1829 at the opening of Blairs College, Maryculter (NJ80SE 70.00); the interior was subsequently remodelled. Three-storey and attic; entrance to centre bay on S front; piended slated roof with piended dormers and a pair of symmetrical axial stacks. The two-storey galleried kitchen in the W section is now the kitchen at ground level; ex situ chimney piece in entrance-hall and original chapel bell attached to the W gable.
