HY21SE 28 c. 25 10.

In one of the largest of a numerous group of tumuli near Stromness, opened in 1835 by the Rev Charles Clouster, two large cists containing burnt bones were found at the centre, surrounded by four others, greatly inferior in construction and size.

These discoveries could probably be related to one of several groups of tumuli on Orkney 100 NE.

Orkney Smr Note (July 1992)

Cist found at farm Arion Stromness measuring 39 x 28 & 23 deep. Small square of textile also found. Looks more like grassy matting.
