Archaeology Notes

NS56SE 69.02 5934 6480

This signal box was built 1933, and was apparently largely of thick armour plate.

C Johnston and J R Hume 1979.

The description of this signal box by Johnston and Hume may suggest that it was one of those considered as sufficiently important to be built or refitted with protective measures against the coming of war. Comparable precautions were taken at Crewe North, England.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 21 January 2005.
