Auchinleck Station [NAT]

(Location cited as NS 549 219). Auchinleck Station, opened 1848 by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway. A two-platform through station, with the main offices on the up side in a two-storey pinned rubble building on an L plan, incorporating a dwellinghouse.

This intermediate station on the Glasgow - Carlisle (via Kilmarnock and Dumfries) main line of the (former) Glasgow and South Western Rly was opened (by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Rly) on 20 July 1846. It was closed by British Railways on 6 December 1965, but reopened on 12 May 1984.

The line remained open throughout, and the station remains in regular use by passenger traffic.
