View from N on roof of brewhouse pend area of economiser. The boilers on site use gas or oil to make steam. Two to three weeks oil supply is kept on site, as gas supply can be interrupted at peak use times. The fumes resulting from the boiler heat the cold water in coils within the exchanger and this heated water goes to the hot liquor tank for use in the brewing process

View of bottom of the four 5 tonne malt bins dating from 1950s with automatic rotary valves installed in 1994 (these give measured amounts of grain). These bins hold chocolate and crystal malts which are measured. These are then mixed in malt bin 'E' with bulk grain and carried by conveyors to the mill room for milling. All the systems are incorporated into an automatic controlled Redler conveyor and elevator system

The grain is conveyed to the Buhler destoner, in the foreground of the picture, which sorts out foreign bodies from the malt mix by vibrating at a rate of 4000 r.p.m. Any foreign bodies (metalwork, stones etc.) falls into a sack attached to the mouth of the destoner of which can be seen in the foreground. The malt to be milled is removed by means of a 'screw' visible in the middle foreground and conveyed to a screen below which feeds the Miag malt mill
