Archaeology Notes

NH78NW 16 c. 736 890

For Skibo Castle (NH 73624 89052) and associated buildings, see NH78NW 13.00.

There was a dovecot in the corner of a piece of ground called the 'Dove-cot Park'. The cot was large, octagonal, stone built of two floors each having stone arched-entrances all around and each entrance having its own flat stone landing platform. The roof was pointed, circular and heather-thatched.

W Calder 1949.

No further information was found during field investigation. Enquiries at the Estate Office, Clashmore, were negative.

Visited by OS (W D J) 14 June 1963.
