The medieval leper hospital was located outside the burgh on the eastern bank of the river Tay. It was part of the croft of Potterhill which occupied sloping ground just north of the medieval bridge, which crossed the Tay at the east end of the High Street on the road to Scone. It is not possible to locate the leper hospital or the Rood Chapel which may have been associated with it from the descriptions given by Fittis (1885).

Field Visit (1997 - 2001)
Derek Hall managed an Historic Scotland funded project to record medieval hospital sites in Scotland. Gazetteers were produced for each regional council area between 1997 and 2001 with an overall review in 2001.
