The medieval leper hospital was located outside the burgh on the eastern bank of the river Tay. It was part of the croft of Potterhill which occupied sloping ground just north of the medieval bridge, which crossed the Tay at the east end of the High Street on the road to Scone. It is not possible to locate the leper hospital or the Rood Chapel which may have been associated with it from the descriptions given by Fittis (1885).
