Field Visit (1998)

NS04NW 26 0134 4669

NS 0134 4669 At 34m OD in mature forestry is another cairn which has been quarried in places. The present dimensions are 16.6m by 13.4m and it still stands to a height of 1.4m. To the S a circular stone ?shieling has been constructed within the cairn, the entrance is to the S, and its inner diameter is 2.46m.

Field Visit (2003)

NS 0132 4664 This feature is situated on flat ground within the conifer woodland planted in 1957. It has an elevation of 34m OD and is seen as a stony mound showing through the deep layer of pine needles that cover the forest floor. The cairn rises to a height of 1.50m and has a spread of 15.0m giving a near circular shape.

Site identified during an archaeological survey on Arran and Jura by the ACFA.

This site was identified using visualisations derived from Airborne Laser Scanning data, and subsequently visited in the field.
