Not to be confused with Irvine, Bank Street, Caledonian Rly Station (NS 3234 3908), for which see NS33NW 62.

(Location cited as NS 316 385). Irvine Station, opened 1839 by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Rly. A two-platform through station. The line is on a viaduct, with the platform buildings entered from the railway at first-floor level. The main offices are on the down side, in a handsome two-storey, coursed-rubble buiulding on an L plan, and there isa smaller stone building of similar construction on the up platform. Both platforms have awnings.

This intermediate station on the Glasgow - Ayr (main) line of the former Glasgow and South Western Rly was opened by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Rly on 5 August 1839. It remains in regular passenger use as part of the (electrified) Glasgow suburban system.
