Archaeology Notes

NH64SE 5 c. 68 44

Possibly on map sheet NH64NE.

A moot-hill existed at Culcabock, on which the proprietors held court, even as late as the end of the 18th c. (A Ross 1888) It was near the spot where King Duncan was allegedly buried (NH64SE 2) The last traces of the knoll were removed c. 1884 (ISSFC 1893)

ISSFC 1893; A Ross 1888.

Enquiries failed to obtain any knowledge of this moot-hill. As the former estates of Culcabock & Raigmore are so close together, it is probable that this Authority and that in NH64NE 25 are referring to

the same site.

Visited by OS (J L D) 25 April 1962.
