Archaeology Notes

NH63SW 17 6269 3341.

(NH 6266 3342) 'Gravel pit may have been a burial'.

Information from Major C J Shaw to OS 5 February 1962.

At NH 6269 3341 is what appears to be a natural mound that has been largely quarried away in the course of road building, leaving a semi circular rim, on the north side of the road, on which some road building material has been dumped. Similar effects have been created elsewhere along the roadside and there is no evidence of a burial in this instance.

Visited by OS (R D L) 28 August 1963.

Activities

Field Visit (17 November 1992)

This is a natural mound which has been cut through during the construction of the public road from Dunlichity to Dores.

Visited by RCAHMS (PJD) 17 November 1992.
