Activities

Field Visit (19 March 1993)

At the edge of an improved field to the E of Midtown there are three large recent clearance heaps composed of boulders. There is nothing to suggest that they are of antiquity.

Visited by RCAHMS (DCC) 19 March 1993.

Field Visit ( - 1970)

NH63SE 7 6576 3466.

(Centred: NH 6576 3470)

'A' Long Cairn. 34 ft by 21 ft by 4 ft high. Aligned East-West.

'B' Long Cairn. 28 ft by 17 ft by 4 1/2 ft high. Aligned North-South. 'C' possible denuded long cairn 40 ft by 18 ft. Aligned East-West.

All have been used as field clearance dumps but seem to be, with the possible exception of 'C', authentic prehistoric cairns.

Information from A A Woodham to OS 9 August 1963.

These three features are stone clearance heaps.

Visited by OS (W D J) 9 September 1963.

These are recent field clearance heaps.
