This former printing works is situated N of the bridge over the Leven on the W side of the A811(the old A82). In 1942 the works were taken over as Dalmarnock Barracks for a Royal Artillery Depot and training establishment. The works were returned to civilian use after the Second World War.

"Dalmonach Print Works: 1860. Complex of red sandstone, one and two storey buildings, covering a large area. Founded 1986, destroyed 1812, rebuilt 1812-13, used for cylinder printing. James Black and Company. (noted from Irving, J The Book of Dunbartonshire, Volume 1)".

(Location cited at NS395802). "...founded 1786 and rebuilt 1812-13 by James Black and Company after a fire. A somewhat altered group of 1- and 2- storey sandstone and brick buildings. The oldest part would appear to be besdie the river Leven. At the gate is a neat Gothic school, presumably operated in connection with the works".
