Viaduct [NAT]

OS (GIS) MasterMap, August 2010.

The Inverness and Ross-shire Rly originally crossed the Beauly river on a timber bridge; this was renewed as a steel structure in 1909.

H A Vallance 1985; P Tatlow 1985.

This viaduct carries the Inverness-Dingwall portion of the 'Far North' line of the Highland Rly over the River Beauly (Beauly River) about 0.5km SE of Beauly Station (NH54NW 37). It remains in regular use by passenger traffic.

The location assigned to this record defines the apparent midpoint of the structure. The available map (GIS) evidence indicates that it extends from NH c. 52369 45575 to NH c. 25202 45541,

The river runs on the E side of the length here defined, and forms the boundary between the parishes of Kilmorack (to the W) and Kirkhill (to the E).

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 2 August 2010.
