Talisker Distillery, Charles Doig, 1890; virtually all reconstructed following an extensive fire in 1961 Historic distillery founded by the MacAskill Brothers in 1833 . Although the long ranges are the result of much rebuilding, the complex includes an early 20th century pier, with railway track and workers' houses.

[Carbost was cleared of its inhabitants to make way for Talisker Distillery which, by c.1900, was producing 40,000 gallons of spirit a year. Now part of United Distillers (Guiness PLC), its maltings closed in 1970.
