This small church is located on the edge of the small hamlet of Grantlodge, Blairdaff. It was built when part of the congregation split during the Disruption to follow the Free Church. It was constructed in 1850, reportedly by James Henderson. Repair work or alterations were carried out in 1879. The church rejoined the Church of Scotland in 1934, reuniting with the nearby Blairdaff Parish Church (see separate record). These two churches co-existed for a number of years, sharing the services until 1954 when the original parish church was closed (it is now a ruin). The smaller former Free Church has continued in regular ecclesiastical use. It is bounded to the west by a large field and there is housing to the north and east. The road through the small village of Blairdaff passes by the front of the church.
