NT04NE 7.01 0598 4569 Hunting Lodge

The hunting seat at Walston, occupied by the Earl of Mar in 1601, was a square tower, which was pulled down a few years before 1840 to build cow-houses, which now occupy the site.

New Statistical Account (NSA) 1845 (J Wilson)

NT 0598 4569 - The interior of the only cow-house on the farm is at present being dug out to a depth of four feet. No remains of an earlier building have been found.
