Meadowside Shipbuilding Yard at 85 Castlebank Street was founded c. 1845 by Tod & MacGregor. The drydock, measuring 474 foot long, 61 foot wide and 18 foot deep was the oldest surviving part, being built 1857-8 for £120,000. The drydock was demolished in 1968 and filled in.

The 14 bay red brick and sandstone office block was built in 1885 for D & W Henderson. This two storey structure is built in the French Renaisaance style being topped by a central tower.
