The signal box that is depicted on the 1st edition and 1914 revision of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire, 1864, sheet xiii; 1921, sheet xix.NW) has been removed. Six brick-built piers lie on the S side of the track, alongside the rectangular stone foundations and waste pipe of the lavatory.

Castlehill Junction formed the junction of the Wilsontown, Morningside and Coltness Railway with its Castlehill branch; both formed part of the North British Railway system.
