This coal mine, which is situated 400m NW of Strathavon, comprises a flattened bing and what may be a pit, indicated by subsidence. A coal pit is depicted on the 1st edition of the 6-inch map (Stirlingshire 1864, sheet xxxv), from which a tramway leads SE to some coke kilns (CSW 4398) and thence to the Slamannan Railway Line (NS87SE 13).
