NT70NE 20 from 7906 0962 to 7903 0981 RR 2.

Formerly RR 8f.

Dere Street first enters Roxburghshire on the NE shoulder of Brownhart Law, some 400 yds NE of its summit but recrosses the Border 200 yds farther N. The modern track cuts through the shoulder in a deep hollow, leaving most of the Roman road, a pronounced mound now 18 ft wide, on its NE side. Some 45 ft W of the road the crest of the ridge is occupied by a small Roman signal-station (NT70NE 16); and just S of the signal-station the road and its accompanying hollow tracks traverse a linear earthwork (NT70NE 15) by a wide gap.

Visited 1944-5.

RCAHMS 1956.

Drove road on line.

Visited by OS (WDJ) September 1970.
