NY29SE 18 c.289 936.

A survey of probable roads up Eskdale, conducted by members of the Dumfriesshire and Galloway Natur Hist Antiq Soc, has found several possible stretches, particularly the length up the end of Westerker Rig at the mouth of the Meggat Water (NY 297 911) and the headwaters of the Shiel Burn (NY 284 958).

A E Truckell 1958

Certain traces of alignments are to be seen on APs (541/A/440 F20: 3153- 4 and 541/A/526 F20: 3259-60) along Westerker Rig (name: NY 289 936), but there is no evidence that they are associated with this feature.

Information from OS Recorder (DA) 4 January 1967

No trace of a Roman road was located in the area, much of which has been afforested. Alignments on APs are mainly associated with natural features.
