A cairn about 130 feet in circumference and 6 feet high and containing a short cist in which was the skull of a cat or dog was opened by Johnstone in June 1827.
It stood on Mr Ellison's farm, lying west of but near to the village of Locharbrigg's "One or two" burnt bodies, covered by freestone slabs, were found on a line eastward of the cairn.
Near, and to the NE and NW of the cairn are two large whinstone blocks 180 feet apart, each having a natural hollow of about a quart capacity. A third stone now hidden by quarry rubbish stood about 900 feet south of the eastern stone.
