(Approx NY 305 885) A settlement is situated on a river scarp above the Boyken Burn. Though a secondary stone feature occupies the centre of the interior, it may be assumed that the timber-built structures originally lay behind the forecourt.

NY 3051 8863. A settlement approximately 60.0m by 55.0m is scooped into a steep, N-facing hill-slope. It has been mutilated and disturbed by haphazard stone quarrying but its main features are still fairly well defined. A mutilated stony bank up to 0.5m follows the top edge of the 3.0m back scarp and a 0.7m high bank lies along the edge of the steep river scarp on the NE side. The entrance is on the east side. There are a number of level areas on the gently sloping interior but none can be identified as a hut stance.
