NY09NW 8 0396 9880.

Situated 165m W of the long cairn NY09NW 4, there are the remains of a cairn, measuring 10.0m in diameter and of negligible height. A crescent-shaped wall has been built on the site as a sheep shelter, possibly with stones robbed from the cairn.

Visited by OS 2 September 1959.

(Location cited as NY 039 988). This mounument is situated upon rough moorland about 160m W of the long cairn NY09NW 4 on a NW-facing hillside overlooking the peat lands around Kinnelhead. Its remains comprise a low circular rim of cairn material measuring 9m in diameter and of negligible height. A crescentic drystone-walled sheep shelter overlies the site and has probably been built of stones from the cairn.

M J Yates 1984.

Unaffected by recent forestry ploughing and planting.

Visited by R C Callander 25 April 1988.
