(NX 9270 6131) Cairn (NR) (Site of)

OS 6" map (1957)

This much dilapidated circular cairn measures some 30 ft in diameter and about 3 ft in height with a hollow in the middle such as might have been produced by excavation.

RCAHMS 1914, visited 1911

NX 9276 6133. A heather-covered cairn situated on a gentle SW-facing hillslope and surrounded by recent afforestation. Composed of granite stones, it is 10.0m in diameter and 1.2m high with a small marker cairn on its west side. The central hollow appears to have been filled. There are many large stones on the perimeter, but these cannot be clearly seen to form a kerb.

Surveyed at 1/10,000.

Visited by OS (TRG) 27 January 1978.

Scheduled with NX96SW 4 as Slewcairn, two cairns.

Information from Historic Scotland, scheduling document dated 23 January 2002.
