NX55SW 41 5134 5383.

NX 5134 5383. Cup-and-ring marked rock.

Visited by OS field surveyor (MJ) 9 February 1979.

Naddair has excavated much more of this outcrop, which he calls Kirkdale Mains 1. He illustrates over eighty cups, many of them plain, about twenty of them surrounded by up to four rings, and others linked by grooves. He also draws attention to a well-preserved spiral. The turf was replaced over the outcrop once the markings had been recorded. Naddair gives NX 5135 5411 as the NGR for this site, but his location map makes it clear that he is describing the outcrop at NX 5134 5383.

K Naddair 1995.
