NX36SW 2 3381 6280.

(NX 3381 6280) Cairn (NR) (Site of).

OS 6" map (1957)

The remains of a cairn, reduced to its foundations. Many years ago a cist was accidentally discovered in it, and an urn which lay within removed. The finder took the urn home, but on learning that it had come from a grave, moved it outside. It was placed on his wall and destroyed by stones thrown at it.

RCAHMS 1912, visited 1911

Although there is no trace of this cairn its site is indicated by a near-circular area of uncultivated ground at the edge of a corn field.

Visited by OS (TRG) 6 July 1976

The discovery of the cist and the destruction of the 'urn' from what was apparently this cairn are noted in a letter dated 1887 by W Armstrong, antiquarian collector.
