(NT 8990 6155) Earthwork (NR) (site of)

OS 1:10,000 map, (1973).

A native settlement is visible as crop marks on an air photograph.

J K St Joseph.

Nothing is visible in a recently ploughed field except for a slight depression which possibly indicates the extent of the inner 'ring' of the earthwork.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 26 January 1966.

The site of a strongly defended settlement is revealed by cropmarks 450m S of East Reston Mill. Roughly oval on plan, it measures a maximum of 50m in diameter within two concentric ditches set about 13m apart.

RCAHMS 1980, visited 1979.

Further photographs taken in 1979 (listed as a fort).

RCAHMS AP catalogue 1979.

Scheduled as 'East Reston, settlement 490m NW of...'

Information from Historic Scotland, scheduling document dated 30 March 2009.
