(NT 7833 5667) Cist found AD 1950 (NAT).

OS 6" map, (1957).

A Bronze Age cist was found on the 29th May 1950 in a field called Auchencraw Park, on the crest of the rising ground above Whiteadder Water, as shown on plan. It was oriented NW-SE. and measured 3'7" by 2'8" by 1'9" with two coverstones each c 2'8" by 2'5". It contained a crouched skeleton and a ring of dull polished jet, 1'7" in diameter, which was given to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS). (Accession No.FN.186.)

The site of the cist is marked by a slight hollow on the crest of a ridge. One of the cover stones, of irregular shape 0.8m x 0.6m x 0.15m lies adjacent.

There is no longer any indication of the site of this cist. A stone similar to that described above, covers a small spring.
