A ploughed-down subrectangular enclosure situated on the highest point of Dun Law measures approximately 60m E-W by 50m. It is formed by a turf bank, now collapsed, spread to 3.0m and standing 0.1m high. Although its origin and purpose are not clear, the farmer, Mr Hunt of Huntershall, suggests that it is a stock enclosure of no great age (cf. NT45NE 6).
Visited by OS 23 April 1979.
An archaeological desk-based assessment and field inspection was undertaken in advance of a proposed wind farm project. Previously known sites include the Roman road Dere Street, and a number of sheepfolds. The newly discovered sites include a range of agricultural features such as farmsteads and field banks.
