(NT 41709 30323) Old Broadmeadows {NAT}

OS 6" map (1959)

Possibly the 'Braidmeadows' referred to by Eliot and Scot in 1649.

W Macfarlane 1908

Old Broadmeadows is now a decaying, ivy-covered ruin. It appears to have been a medium sized dwelling of rubble construction; the window and door frames have been robbed and there is now no obvious dating evidence.

Dr Robson (M Robson, Wilton Lodge Museum, Hawick) has no information about the present house, but his records mention a forest steading called Brademedow in 1456 in the Rental of Ettrick Forest.
