(NT 1056 7073) Lin's Mill (NAT) (dis)

OS 1:10000 map (1974)

Lin's Mill: 17th century - two storeys and basement; rubble-walled. Two later cottages at right angles to mill.

SDD List 1964

A portion of Lin's Mill is apparently very old, and contains features of possibly 17th century date. It is a low, single-storeyed building on the W side of a courtyard, and measures 13.0 m in length. It has a pantiled roof and the E wall contains windows and doors with moulded jambs and lintels. A modern building on the E side of the yard has an inscribed stone inserted above a doorway bearing the date 1680 and the initials W L / A B. The mill is disused and semi-ruinous (cf Lin's Grave: NT17SW 10).

Visited by OS (JLD) 15 August 1961

Lin's Mill: converted to a house by Morris & Steedman in 1971.

C McWilliam 1978.
