NT06NW 2 042 683.

Part of a square tower stood, until a few years ago, near Newyearfield farm house (NT 042 683). Traditionally, it was a royal hunting seat (OSA 1798). Mr J Orr, who worked on Newyearfield farm about 1790, stated that there was no tower existing then, only some very old walls, garden etc, and it was considered probable that the farmhouse was erected on the site of the old tower. This opinion was also given by the local minister.
