(NT 1200 2957) Homestead (NR)

OS 6" map (1966)

A homestead, elliptical on plan, measures 110 ft (33.5m) by 55 ft (16.8m) within the wasted remains of a wall which, where best preserved, on the SE, appears as a low bank spread to a thickness of 12 ft (34.6m), from which several large boulders protrude. A quarry ditch, 50 ft (15.2m) in length, lies outside this sector. Gaps in the E and W arcs of the wall may both represent original entrances. Within the interior two circular depressions, one 18 ft (5.5m) and the other 16 ft (4.9m) in diameter, probably mark the sites of timber houses.

RCAHMS 1967, visited 1958

Generally as described by RCAHMS. One probable house-platform exists in the interior.

Resurveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (WJ) 2 August 1963 and (DWR) 14 September 1972
