NS67NE 3 6516 7660.
(Area centred 6516 7660) There is a Charter by William Galbraith to Sir Patrick de Grahame and his heirs granting to him the Mill of Kincade. The Charter is undated, but was presumably granted about 1285.
'The old Mill of Kyncade is, I presume, what is now termed French Mill'. J Cameron 1892.
The name French Mill applies to a modern farmhouse. No traces of antiquity were found. There is, however, an old mill-lade about 100m. north of the house, where a mill might well have been situated.
No information was obtained by enquiry.
Visited by OS (J D) 16 February 1954.
