The Castle of Arnfinlay stood in a park of which the arable field Castle Park (OS 6" map (1863)) (NS 612 947) at Arnprior formed part (Name Book 1863). There were no remains in 1796 and by 1863 the actual site of the castle could not be indicated although the name was known.
OSA 1796; NSA 1845 (W Anderson)
Arnfinlay is shown on plan of Stirlingshire made by William Edgar in 1745, and appears to have been in the vicinity of the Tower of Garden which is not shown, but the plan is of insufficient scale and accuracy for the building to be accurately sited.
Visited by OS (DS) 11 March 1957.
