A Middle Bronze Age flanged axe, (Coles Class III, Kirkless Group) from Croy (NS 72 75) is in Glasgow Art Galleries and Museum (accession no: 97-183).

This axe which was found near Croy Hill (NS 733 765) (J G Scott, Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum) measures 4 1/8" x 2 1/8". No further information.

Visited by OS (VEL) 2 March 1954.

(Irish palstave related to group A; formerly classified as flanged axe). Single find. Palstave, smooth, black, hammered blade and flange-sides. Length 104mm, butt 24mm, stop-height 12mm, cutting edge 54mm, weight 320 gms. Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow (97-183).
