(NS 3733 4410) Two Axes & Pottery found 1875 (NAT)

OS 6" map (1970)

Two small 'celts' (one in the author's possession) were found in a drain in a low-lying field at Stacklawhill to the west of Glazert Water, just opposite the Bonshaw Mound, at a depth of about 4ft, together with several sherds of ancient pottery. The drainer (who made the discoveries) had a large earthenware bowl found in one of the drains.

J Smith 1895

The site indicated falls in a low-lying pasture meadow. Nothing of antiquity is to be seen and no further information was obtained during field investigation.
