The oldest inhabited house in Rhu parish was formerly Blairvadic Castle, situated about a mile above the Rov, much resembling a border keep or peel. It is now pulled down, and its place occupied by a modern castle.

W Battrum 1864

The mansion of Blairvaddock is mentioned in 1558.

W Fraser 1869

No further information was found regarding Blairvadock Castle. The present mansion house is entirely modern and shows no trace of antiquity.
